About Us
Our Story
Thread City Handyman Service, LLC was established by James and Dora Oliver, because they have a passion for planning home improvement projects and seeing ideas brought to fruition; moreover, given their love of Willimantic, when thinking about the people they’d like to serve with their business, James and Dora naturally gravitated towards the Thread City and its neighboring communities. While James is a native of Willimantic, Dora is originally from Russia, but in 2003 they met while working at Horizons and they’ve been inseparable ever since.
We are driven by values
In 2011, James and Dora graduated from Eastern Connecticut State University. Together, they have four children, live in Canterbury, and are administrators at Horizons − a nonprofit agency that supports people with special needs. At Horizons, James and Dora were schooled in positive practices, professionalism, and the methods used to provide an individualized experience for each person served; likewise, Thread City Handyman Service, LLC incorporates these principles when collaborating with its neighbors on home improvement projects, and in doing so, they foster relationships that promote good communication and creative solutions.
Doing what we love
Through the years, James and Dora derived much joy from working together on home improvement projects, and their skill sets complement one another to produce meticulous results. With the periodic guidance of tradesmen and with many trials, this duo amassed a wealth of knowledge and experience while performing handyman services for friends, family, and in their own home. Given the delight they felt when planning and executing home improvement projects, upon reflection about ways with which they could challenge themselves in the years ahead, James and Dora determined that they wanted to work together to partner with neighbors to improve their homes one project at a time; thus, Thread City Handyman Services, LLC was conceived in a spirit of love – love for one another, love of work, and love of neighbor. It is in this spirit that you’re welcomed to this website.
